Addressing the annual flu season is a complex issue. Barriers to uptake of the flu shot include lack of time, fear of side effects or disbelief of the shot’s efficacy. These and other obstacles create anxiety and inaction. To inspire a behaviour change Veritas worked with MOH to create an influencer campaign: a video featuring celebrity and parenting media promoting the flu shot as a call-to-action for parents.
The Social’s Traci Melchor, ET Canada’s Rick Campanelli, and a host of Mom Bloggers urged Ontarians to get the shot. We also held a separate event for parenting media and tapped into health media by leveraging Dr. Arlene King, Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health. An online education model was created and distributed to Ontario’s family physicians and pediatricians to reinforced HCPs’ important role in flu immunization.
